We have finally started publishing a real newsletter. We hope to get it out 3-4 times a year. Thank you Dave for heading up this project. You will need Adobe Reader to read the newsletters from now on.

Just thought we should make everyone aware of the events of the meeting on Monday night. First and probably most significant was the election of
officers. The new officers are:
President – Dave Routzon W5GT
Vice President – Glenn Thompson KE4HZC
Secretary – Karl Ross KD5ZOC
Treasurer – Bob Norris KA5KXT
Education Officer – John Dossey K5GD
It was also discussed that the Outgoing President and Vice President would serve on the Board of Directors for a period of one year. Further
discussion on this item will take place and the final vote taken at next months meeting.
The first item of business for the new organization was to change the night of our monthly meetings. It was decided unanimously that we would now
meet on the 4th Monday of each month. So the next meeting will be March 27th at 7:00 PM at the Fire Administration Building. We will send out a
reminder a day or two before.
The rest of the meeting was spent discussing events for 2006. It was unanimously decided that we need to have more food! Some other ideas
discussed were:
We are finally past the significant setup hurdles and can now focus on having fun and being of service to the community.
We invite all of you that have not been out for awhile to come see how much we have accomplished and just how much is coming up!

Ok,
before everybody gets to thinking you missed out on food that's coming up
later.
The October meeting went great even though Mike kept trying to make it
September again. We had some great info shared and was told of an
informative place on the Internet. I briefly checked this site out this
morning and there is alot of good stuff there. Check it out!

We also had a lesson on DFing by AB5CK - Tom Lewis. Many thanks to Tom.
After that the discussion once again turned to food and a family cookout
that had been discussed in previous meetings. A date of November 5th was
set...unfortunately that date was taken at Northfield Park so the date has
been reset for November the 12th. So in light of this we will be going down
the call list for all amateur radio operators in NRH to invite them and yall
to the 1st annual NRHARC Family Cookout. Just as the name suggests this
event is open to amateurs and their families and we will try to keep
conversation to all subjects not just radio stuff. The location is the fore
mentioned Northfield Park. Those of you who attended our fun filled Field
Day event will remember the location, for those of you who missed it the
entrance to the park is on Davis Blvd. north of Starnes / Rumfield on the
east side of the road. The NRHARC club will be supplying the plates,
napkins, utensils, hamburgers, hot dogs, and buns. We are asking for
volunteers to sign up to bring baked beans, potato salad, chips and dips,
desserts, and drinks.
To sign up to bring one of these please contact:
Mike Needham - 817-498-7430
Monte Meadows - 817-498-1303
Irene Gearhart - 817-428-4019
We are asking all who would like to attend please RSVP us either by phone or
email by October 30th so we may plan on the correct amount of food for all.
If anyone knows of other amateurs in NRH that we need to invite please send
us their name and phone numbers and any other suggestions about the event
let us know.
Thanks,
Monte

CQ CQ CQ all NRHARC members,
Last night, at the NRH city council meeting we received a certificate from the city council proclaiming that July 11Th will be Amateur Radio Appreciation Day in NRH. We were asked to attend this months city council meeting but we didn't know all this was going to happen. After the presentation our fearless leader Mike Needham gave a very moving acceptance speech after a short bit of blushing. What a "HAM".....(OK, that was an easy joke but I couldn't resist !) I am very happy that the Amateur Radio Operators in our city were recognized in this manner. I'm not aware of any other city that has done this or even offers this level of support and training on a regular basis. I would personally like to thank Sean Hughes and Kirk Marcum for all their support for all these years. You can see the certificate on the
NRHARC website and it will be framed and hung in the NRHFD administration building on display.
I've had a few inquiries on the siren test and I'm happy to announce that Karl Ross, KD5ZOC has taken over the coordination of the monthly siren test and all of you that were interested in helping with that please contact
Karl either by email or catch up with him at the next meeting. Thanks Karl !
Now that I mentioned the next meeting I will remind you all that the next meeting is next Monday night July 18Th 2005 at 7 pm at our original meeting place, the NRHFD admin building. Hope to see you all there and if anyone knows another ham that is currently not attending, Please bring them along.
One more announcement, Sean Hughes is looking to have another Amateur radio class in November or December and if anyone has family or friends interested please email
Roger Courtney N5RCS (our education officer) or contact Roger at the next meeting. Hey Roger .....SURPRISE!!!!
It's always more fun if it's a surprise!
Well I guess that's about all for this round, and I hope everyone has a great week.
